The Concert chapter 2 part 1
Original story written by: Marit Worms
I heard a strange, short beep. There it was again. I feel my stomach going up and down with my calm breathing. I frowned. Wait a minute, this is not my bed… I slowly opened my eyes. Dazed, I looked at a dark ceiling. Slowly I let my head fall to the right. There was a monitor with different lines and beeps. Behind the monitor was a woman with long brown hair sleeping in a chair, holding my hand tightly. Her eyes were puffy and her round glasses stood crooked on her face. Aunt Elena? I didn't get it. What is going on? Where am I? I tried to get up but i was stopped by a stabbing pain in my shoulder. I gasped. Everything came back with a shock from what had happened. The man! The girls! The concert. I am in the hospital! My head started pounding. That's right, the blow to my head. The door opened and the room slowly lightened as a nurse entered. "Ah, you're awake." I couldn't say anything yet, just stare. Elena woke up startled and looked around. Then I looked into her familiar brown eyes. "Lynn! You are awake! Don't you ever scare me like that again! What were you thinking!"
"Calm down, you are upsetting her and we can't have that now." I stared in front of me, thinking back at the concert, feeling dizzy. "I'll go get the doctor, I'll be right back with you" I followed her out of the room with my eyes. I saw an officer standing through the blinds. The nurse talked to him for a moment, shook her head at him and walked away. Dazed, I let my gaze drift back to Elena.
"Lynn what happened? I had just finished assisting with a surgery when I got a call that you were in another hospital with a gunshot wound! Her eyes filled with tears. "I was shocked!" I looked at my body. There were tubes in my arm and hand, and wires ran from the monitor to my chest. I had hoped it was all just a dream. "You need a drink, I'll get you a glass of water." With trembling hands, she offered me a glass of water and I took it carefully. I drank it, cleared my throat and began to tell.
"Gosh! How brave of you Lynn! You saved people, I am so proud of you! You saved seven young men! But next time you want to play the hero, just kick him in the balls and run to a security guard! She squeezed my hand gently and I frowned. But that was not the reason I did it… A nauseous feeling came over me. "I didn't care about those boys, Jasmine and Naomi stood around there, I was trying to protect them!" A loving smile came to her face and she shrugged. "You have been able to prevent a disaster, that is something you can be proud of. Your parents would have been so proud of you!" I swallowed my words, my eyes lowered and fiddled with the necklace.
"Good afternoon Lynn, good to see you regained consciousness. How are you feeling? I'm Dr. Emerald. A tall, slender man with tousled hair walked in. He had glasses on the tip of his nose and flipped through a chart. "I must confess that you really startled me when you entered. It's a wonder you weren't trampled by all those people running away! I think you actually even had an angel on your shoulder there.
