My question to you

Which way do you prefer to read? Nowadays people tend to forget the importance of reading, which is a nightmare for writers like you and me. We love to write and read, but since physical books are a dying species, how long before they totally disappear? When the only way we can read will be online.

There are a lot of ways to read: in a book, on your phone, laptop, on an e-reader, tablet or in a paper. The ways are endless. Everybody reads, sometimes voluntarily and involuntarily. Personally I prefer to read a book or on my phone. There are a lot of apps you can use when you read on your phone. I use Wattpad and fanfiction.net. I also often read on episode, an app where you can read stories with visualization. There are a lot of different stories on those apps. I used to go to the library and take the maximum amount of books home. And return them the next week because I had read them already.

Children don’t read as much as they used to and that is such a shame, not only because reading is good for your vocabulary but it’s also good for your imagination. Besides that, it’s also fun to do. There are a lot of different genres to choose from: romance, thriller, horror, mystery, comedy, fantasy, science fiction.

Everybody has their own taste in books, also how they like to read, one reads before bed, the other one snuggles up on the couch under a warm blanket with earbuds, everyone is different so why should their way of reading be the same.

Now let me tell you a story: I used to be a loner, I didn’t like to socialize with people. There was one thing I loved to do and that was reading, this was also the cause for me to start writing, I didn’t like the endings or that there were no sequels. I started to write them myself. Later on I switched to writing my own stories and I never dared to dream one would become a real book, but it did. And now I’m part of different social media where all kind of writers help each other out. When they are stuck or want some advice. I went from a loner to part of a special community.

So my question to you is: What is your favorite way and kind of book to read?

  1. I still love to read books that are 'real'. Books that you can feel and save on a bookshelf, so you can treasure your big collection of books after you read them - Mandy
