 they were walking away from the schoolyard. They were walking home with their bikes in their hands. "Why didn't you say anything?" "Because we didn't want you there", Auriana said.   

"Because Auriana didn't want you there", Emma corrected. Jake rolled his eyes and walked further. "JAKE, WATCH OUT!" Jimmy shouted. There was a car right in front of Jake's face. Jake stood frozen in horror. Auriana and Nikki ran towards Jake. Everything seemed to go in slow motion, Nikki gave Auriana an extra push so she and Jake both would get out of the way before the car would hit them, Jake felt how someone pushed him aside and fell to the ground. He heard the squeaking of tires coming to a stop and a shout. not thinking to jump away herself, Nikki felt how the nose of the car touched her legs and waist. A flash of unbearable pain went through her body. Brooke, Renee, Skylar, Jimmy, Emma and Jeremy stood frozen on the other side of the road. The man got out of his car and took his cellphone out of his pocket. Jake stood up. The first thing that caught Jake’s eye was the red hair that laid against the curb. She must have hit her head against the curb when she and Nikki pushed me aside, he thought. There was a slight pain in his shoulder and elbow. "Auriana? ... Auriana? ..." Jake shook her shoulder, but Auriana didn't respond. "The ambulance will be here in five minutes, I'm so sorry”, the man groaned. Emma took her cell phone out of her bag and called Nikki's parents. Voicemail. She called again. Voicemail again. "Come on, pick up!" Emma said, ​​annoyed. "Hello Emma, ​​what's so important that you must call me three times, while i’m at work?" Nikki's mother asked. “Nikki had an accident! You have to come to the hospital right away!" Emma said with panic in her voice. "I'm on my way!" Meanwhile, Jake had arrived at the hospital with Auriana. Jake ran inside with Auriana in his arms. A sister approached him and took Auriana from him. "What happened?" She asked. “Well… I walked down the street but didn't see a car approaching, so she and another friend pushed me aside, that other friend got hit by the car and she and I fell. I think she hit her head against the curb.” The sister put Auriana in a room. "What’s her name?"   

"Auriana Williams."   
"Do you know anything else about her?"
Jake nodded and told her everthing he knew. 
"Okay, you wait in the waiting room for a moment, while I do a few tests with Auriana." Jake nodded and walked towards the waiting room. He heard an ambulance coming and shortly afterwards six pairs of fast footsteps.  
He ran into the corridor. "JAKE!" Brooke shouted. Nikki was driven into a room on a stretcher, and they immediately closed the door. "Where is Auriana?"  
“In a room. The nurse is examining her. "  
A doctor arrived. "I need the data of the girl with the brown braid."  
Skylar gave her all the information she needed.
"Thank you", the doctor said. Nikki's mother ran inside. “Where's my daughter? Where is Nikki?” She asked in a panic. The seven teenagers ran towards her.  
"She has just been brought in and is probably being examined now." They all sat down in the waiting room.
